We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage. We will welcome summer’s ghost. Henry Rollins

Yeah, I know, long time no post! It’s been a wild summer in Raleigh and crazy at work with new research areas. Abnormally cool and wet weather took a toll on the garden early in the season resulting in one of the worst years we’ve had since we moved here. The tomato patch consisted of 28 varieties this year that limped along with the rampant Raleigh pestilence. We are lucky to live in a country with bountiful food where we don’t have to rely on a garden for subsistence.  That being said, we now have a freezer full of sauces and pesto to last us to next July!

Now it’s time to think about the Fall garden…lettuce, arugula, spinach, parsnips, snap peas and bok choi.  Time to dust off the brew stand too!  I love the cooler days and colors of autumn!

How was your summer?
